¿POR QUÉ LA REINGENIERÍA?

El gearbox es un elemento crítico en cualquier tren de potencia eólico, especialmente en aquellos con elevadas exigencias operativas, y, por tanto, está directamente relacionado con una parte importante de los costes de operación y mantenimiento de cualquier parque eólico.

Los sucesos de fallo que suponen un gran correctivo – ya sea reparación o sustitución completa del gearbox – surgen habitualmente y crecen significativamente a partir del primer tercio del período teórico de explotación, esto es, del 30% de la vida de diseño certificada por organismos oficiales independientes.

Según nuestra experiencia en Gamesa Gearbox, esta dramática reducción de vida esperada puede estar directamente relacionada con (1) errores de diseño y/o fabricación, y/o (2) estrategias de operación y/o mantenimiento inapropiadas.

El primero de los motivos, errores de diseño y/o fabricación, puede resultar a priori sorprendente ya que los conceptos de diseño y fabricación de un gearbox son conocidos y dominados desde hace décadas, y su validez está más que probada en todo tipo de aplicaciones industriales. Sin embargo, esta transferencia directa de estándares industriales es precisamente el error de planteamiento en el que han incurrido todos los fabricantes al abordar los primeros diseños para el entorno eólico.

En los últimos años, los nuevos diseños han evolucionado significativamente en cuanto a la robustez y fiabilidad que ofrecen al operar bajo las condiciones de funcionamiento de un aerogenerador, que difieren de las cuasi-estáticas de la mayoría de las aplicaciones industriales.

Los aspectos que, para tal fin, han evolucionado especialmente son:

  • Geometría de los engranajes

  • Sistema de lubricación
