New test bench in Sigüeiro

Last Wednesday, the Sigüeiro plant inaugurated a new test bench for both aftermarket and new wind turbine main shaft units, thereby strengthening its technological capacity and positioning Gearbox as a benchmark in repairs and re-engineering.

The inauguration of the test bench was attended by the President of the Regional Government of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, while Siemens Energy was represented by Kerman Gabiola, Managing Director of Siemens Energy in Spain; José Luis Herrero, Head of Gamesa Gearbox; Rubén Carranza, Head of Aftermarket; and José Manuel Carnota, Plant Manager, among others.

This test bench, which will ensure the highest quality in repairs carried out at the plant, has been designed to adapt to different models, geometries, power ratings and main shaft configurations.

In addition to introducing improvements that will eliminate original design flaws, the new test bench will enable us to optimise structural performance and, in many cases, increase the service life of components, contributing to greater sustainability and efficiency of wind turbines.
