Reduce, Reuse, Optimise: Our Commitment to the Environment

This year, our production plants have gone one step further to reduce their energy consumption by optimising the use of compressors and air conditioning systems.

Compressor optimisation: a commitment to efficiency

• At Lerma, we have installed a new compressor with technology adapted to the plant’s real demand, which has enabled us to achieve savings of 54,000 kWh/year.
• The old compressor in Lerma has been reused in Burgos, replacing much more obsolete equipment. This measure has optimised the plant’s capacity and has led to additional savings of 29,700 kWh/year.
• In Mungia we have managed to repair 35 air leaks with our own means, which translates into a saving of 21,110 kWh/year.
• In Asteasu, a 30 kW compressor has been replaced by a 22 kW compressor with frequency inverter technology, which improves its efficiency and generates an estimated saving of 19,200 kWh/year.

The result of these actions is a combined energy saving of 124,010 kWh per year at our Asteasu, Burgos, Lerma and Mungia plants.

Improvements in air conditioning: efficient comfort at Asteasu II

In addition, at Asteasu II, a project has been launched to improve and optimise the air-conditioning systems by installing by-passes, which will lead to an estimated minimum saving of 158,033 kWh/year.

In total, these initiatives represent a reduction of more than 282,000 kWh/year, reflecting the commitment of the entire Gamesa Gearbox team to continuous improvement and respect for the environment. Today, more than ever, we reaffirm that every action counts in building a more sustainable future.
