We have been certified as a ‘Brain-Protected Workplace’

Thanks to a project carried out in a coordinated manner across all five Gamesa Gearbox plants, we have been awarded the ‘Brain-Protected Space’ certification by the Freno al Ictus Foundation. More than 250 people have received specific training to recognise the warning signs of a stroke and know how to respond in an emergency.

Stroke is one of the main public health problems in Spain. It affects more than 120,000 people every year; it is the leading cause of acquired disability in adults, the leading cause of death among women and the second leading cause of death overall. It is estimated that one in four people will suffer a stroke during their lifetime.

The award was presented by the Freno al Ictus Foundation during a ceremony held at our Lerma site. Health and Safety officers from the five plants received certificates on behalf of those who took part in the training, in recognition of their commitment to stroke prevention and early intervention.

Through this initiative, we are continuing our work to promote prevention and the acquisition of knowledge that helps to create safer and healthier working environments, thereby ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of our entire workforce.
